Making a good situation out of a bad one!

Last week was one of those weeks that seemed like everything that could have gone wrong did. The weather here over the last week has been absolutely terrible when it comes to being able to shoot outside. It seems like we have had nothing but rainy day after rainy day. Fortunately I was able to make the best out of those rainy days.

The photo on the left was my first problem day. This was the first time I had worked with Nicole and even almost didn't work with her on this day. I had sent her a message earlier that morning stating that I had reservations due to the weather. Since she was already having her hair and make up done, needless to say she was a bit upset with me and my decision to postpone things. She convinced me to keep the shoot and I am glad she did. Although it was raining when we met to drive out to where we shot and even raining once we got there, the rain did subside and eventually stop.

Kayla the model pictured on the right was my next encounter with a rainy day. Kayla has one of the toughest work schedules I know of when it comes to trying to schedule a shoot. The two of us have been trying for months to get together but it always seemed that either of us were free when the other was. Fortunately this past weekend things works out and we were able to shoot, however once again the weather was rainy. As with Nicole, when Kayla and I met, it was raining but once we arrived at the location of the shoot, the rain quit. So once again I was able to dodge a bullet.

Lastly, comes Cari Lynn, in her case it wasn't bad weather but bodily injury. Cari called me the Monday before the shoot to let me know that she had had a bike accident and broken her collar bone. All I can say is that Cari was a real trooper because I know she was in a lot of pain. She did have limited movement but with every movement I knew it was painful for her.

The last image I have posted here actually was taken during the same shoot as Cari's. Diana had come along also to shoot with the bikes and as well as for Look Swimwear. Cari had wanted some casual images taken for her new website and was gracious enough to let Diana borrow a pair of jeans. Diana slipped them on and we captured one of my favorite images of the day.So the next time you go out to shoot and things are not the best don't complain but make the best of what you've got.

Quality photographs are not always made under the best of circumstances. A good photographer will make the best out of a bad situation. No shoot ever goes entirely as planned but by keeping your wits about you and surveying what you've got, you can turn a bad shoot into a good one quickly.
